About the community: Floyd Cross wrote: Bedele is the same as Buno Bedele. They dropped the first name, which meant coffee area, as in bunna remember? At the time I was there---the first European since the Italians retreated in '41, they had a cow pasture airport to fly out the coffee on the DC-3s. After they completed the road from Jimma to Addis, the airport closed. When I was last there in '93 there was a school and housing on the site. The town had really gone through a lot of positive change and growth. They opened a brewery nearby just as I was there. Couldn't even find the exact location where my house had been, due to the "urban" growth.
